Robots - Heads
  • David Hanson
His area of research investigates facial expression in robots using recent breakthroughs in elastomer material sciences to enact a sizable range of natural humanlike facial expressions. This branch of robotics will rise in relevance as humans and robots begin to have more face-to-face encounters in the coming years.
  • Human Emulation Robotics LLC
Hanson Robotics seeks to endow robots with aesthetic expressivity using biomimetic structures, innovative design principles, and recent breakthroughs in elastomer material sciences. Such vectors of development will rise in relevance as humans and robots have more frequent face-to-face encounters in the coming years.
  • How to Build a Computerized Android Robot Head for $600.00
It is possible to build a computer-driven, life-size, android robot head (Figure 1) for cost of materials of about $600.00. The android head will have two color video-camera eyes with the video going both into a window on the PC and into an image processing Java application.
  • Anthropomorphic Robot Head
The head is an anthropormphic head with 9 degrees of freedom. The neck can pan left and right and tilt up and down. The eyes can do individual pan and tilt movements. The jaw can open and close. The mouth can express smiling and frowning and the eyebrows can move up and down.
  • The digital ape
The digital ape is a continuation of my previous humanoid-like robotics projects. For this project I wanted to build something more in the style of an animatronic, with an appealing appearance and which superficially didn't look like a robot. We tend to think of animatronics as something relatively modern invented for hollywood movies but actually it has a much longer history going back hundreds of years. The digital ape is a continuation of my previous humanoid-like robotics projects.
